Dr. Mostafizur Rahman was Chairman  of the Department of Folklore Studies at the Islamic University, Kushtia, Bangladesh. He was a Member of the Academic Council and of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the research university. Dr Rahman is also a Visiting Professor, Academic Advisor and PhD Research Supervisor of Noble International University-NIU (USA). Prior to this he was a Consultant for News and an Assignment Editor of a popularly known Bengali television network in the country- Boishakhi Television (2010-2019)

Dr. Rahman, a national and internationally acclaimed television journalist, broadcaster and versatile media personality known as Mithun Mostafiz in the global media sphere with nearly two decades of experience in mass communication and multi-media journalism. He is also the Editor of reputed Bengali National Daily News Paper- the Daily Bangladesh Shomoy and Global Affairs Editor of Channel 52 Television based in USA. He is a Guest Correspondent of Canadian largest television news network- CTV as well.

Dr. Mostafizur Rahman is Vice President of International Consortium for Social Development – ICSD, Australia. He is an international member at the Amnesty International UK (a Nobel Peace Prize winner and a leading human rights organization in the globe). Dr. Rahman is also a member of United Nation Journalist Inter Governmental Organization-UNJIGO, USA.

As a multifaceted leader Dr. Rahman plays his role in different capacities for social development as a Vice-President of the Hindu-Muslim Maitri Bangladesh Foundation- HMMBF. He was the Founder President of News Broadcasters Association of Bangladesh- NBA, an organization of news presenters of private televisions and radio stations in the country. He is a Member of Dhaka Union of Journalists and was an Executive Committee Member of Dhaka Reporters Unity- a largest working journalists organization in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Alongside this, very keen to learn- Dr. Rahman was an Adjunct Faculty & Assistant Professor of the Department of Sociology & Social Work at the People’s University of Bangladesh-PUB and a Guest Faculty of Asian University of Bangladesh- AUB.

Dr. Rahman started his professional career as a television journalist and a broadcaster in 2001-2002. Since then he grew up as a ‘thorough and complete’ media professional in different capacities as a Reporter, Presenter, Producer, Director and Host with multi-lingual ability and mounts him as a news operational topped up of the station to gear up the key management stakeholders until his joining as an academic.

He was trained by American, European and Asian top and seasoned television journalists and experts for his professional reflection, growth and excellence. He served other three leading televisions in Bangladesh as a Senior Correspondent and Anchor namely Ekushey Television- (country’s first private terrestrial television network), National Television Ltd-RTV and Rupashi Bangla Television.

Dr. Rahman participated to different socio-political, economic, diplomatic, human rights and climate change related global, regional, sub-regional conferences, seminars and meetings and workshops as a journalist and as a participant. Somewhere he spoke as a guest speaker and as a chief speaker as well.

As an International Television Correspondent he was privileged to witness and covers many important events of the globe like: 72nd United Nations General Assembly, Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference- CPC, 136th Inter-Parliamentary Union- IPU Summit, US Election in 2016, Indian Election in 2014, BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit in 2016, 16th SAARC Summit in 2010 and he covered most of the EU nations news stories on politics, economy and culture in 2011. He also covered 9th, 10th and 11th General Election of Bangladesh.

As a journalist, Dr. Rahman was honored by the City of Paterson authority of NJ, USA in 2016. He was also honored by the Councilman at Large of the city of Paterson, Mr. Alex Mendez for his extraordinary courage journalism and outstanding contribution to the international media through reporting against terrorism, militancy, and religious extremism. US Pedro Rodriguez Foundation too, honors him for ‘Keeping the Global Community Informed’. Dr. Rahman received ALFA Star Award in 2017 for his special contribution to the mass media of Bangladesh as a young and promising communication professional. Moreover, he achieved a lot of prizes, awards, medals and certificates for his extracurricular and co-curricular activities.

Dr. Rahman authored the book ‘Khasi women in Bangladesh’ published by Som Publication, Kolkata, India in 2020. His two other books ‘Khasi Community in Bangladesh’ and ‘A Collection of Stories on Khasis’ are under the printing process.

Dr. Mostafizur Rahman has achieved PhD in ethno cultural studies. Earlier, he obtained another PGD in Disaster Management form Bangladesh. His area of current research interest includes Bangladesh’s ethno-cultural diversity, communication and development, volunteerism, folklore and socio-environmental issues.

Despite his being an ethno-cultural analyst, Dr. Rahman is strongly expressing opinion in the global media sphere through different platform of Medias. Because he believes that the world can be changed through academic knowledge and justified information. Dr. Rahman is working towards achieving that goal and contributing to the global community through academic knowledge and information services having followed greater ‘public interest policy’, as a key principle to ensure well-being of citizens by attaining democratic rights, human rights and human development for a peaceful and livable planet earth.
